Kao To Launch New Purifier For Oral Care

Kao Corporation today announced its discovery of Erythritol, a sugar alcohol found in fruits, mushrooms, wine, soy sauce, sake, miso and fermented products, as a new potential purifier for oral care.

Kao conducted an analysis and found that a reduced amount of saliva causes bad breath, cavities, gingivitis and plaque. Erythritol acts like one of the purifying substances in saliva, decentralizing oral bacteria and thereby preventing plaque.

Kao will report this discovery in the 46th Annual Conference of the Japanese Association for Oral Biology from September 22-23 and at the 55th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society for Dental Health from October 6-8.
